happy birthday to me.
what can you get for a nickel?

hardly a stick of gum...
ok everybody, gather 'round. it's time for the pigpen hoe-down. kick up yer heels, jump up and down, shut your eyes and whirl around. reach out your hand and if no one's there, grab yer own hand, dance 'round in a square.

we don't need a caller, lucy. we need a vacuum cleaner.

Tuesday, November 20, 2001

yeah, it was right before a movie. or a dolly parton concert. do you remember seeing the spinning colored circles and the word SPECIAL before a snoopy cartoon or the grinch? any cartoon, actually, that was on prime time, mostly during the holidays.

does anyone remember josie and her parrot happy? the bird would say "shut up." nice.

saw weezer last night! tenacious D and jimmy eat world opened. it was insane.
remember those short little animation type announcements right before an HBO movie that would take you through the tunnel of the inner O in HBO and then swirl around and scare the bejeebers out of me? well i do.

Friday, November 16, 2001

Tuesday, October 16, 2001

does anyone know how to make a clickable link in a blog?

Monday, October 15, 2001

oh, and suzanne... i sent you some stuff for your zine, but it was returned to me >:( not sure why... it was a big manilla envelope, but it should still fit in your po box. hmf!
thanks, yadas, for the box o' stuff! it's nice to get toys again. that's what birthdays are for. we didn't play drop-the-clothespin-in-the-jar, the egg toss, or pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey like old times, but i did get silly-stringed by my roommates.

anyone dressing up for halloween? i'm considering jenine garafolo's (sp?) the bowler from mystery men.

does anyone have a clue what to get dad for his birthday besides a tie or a desk calendar? or what about merle? suzanne and mike, you're already covered... mwah-ah-ah.

ooooh, lovely lady. a-girl you drive me craaaazz-ay!

Thursday, October 11, 2001

it's christmas in the playhouse, and we're gonna have a lot of fun, merry christmas everybody, merry christmas everyoooooooone!

jo anne i gotcha a present. don't buy anything from now until you get it in the mail. nothing. not even a gallon of milk.

ok, just kidding. i think you already know what it is.

Monday, October 08, 2001

remember when central school had mcdonald's day? taco bell day too... and i think pizza hut day. and waiting in line for ice cream was the highlight of the day. pretty sad, but hey... i hung out with shauna lucas.

i'm sorry i made you cry about not writing period on your paper, suzanne. but i can just imaging your face lighting up when you got to middle school and they started using that word. "the world makes sense now!"

in belmont, the fire hydrants are painted like people. they're made of PEOPLE! soylent green is made of PEOPLE!

gleeb!

john smaglik: "i'd like a large, LARGE water."
"where's bobo?"

going to see midnight oil thursday! woo hoo!

for my birthday once, amber granted me half-possession of her barbie R.V. it's ok. i got her back later when i ate all of the gumballs that merle gave her for christmas. and when i broke her little finger when i snatched her crystal barbie from her clutches. and when i wrote on the wall and blamed it on her.

Sunday, October 07, 2001

OMG too funny, I remember those triangle popsicle things! I loved 'em!!!

Will see about the They Might Be Giants CD... I just heard there little a-capella version of "Spiderman," way cool!

Also New Order is coming out with a new CD, yayy!

Friday, October 05, 2001

remember K D Fox? and then there was the fox 26 kids crew. kalia moved to florida and we were all sad.

then there was the big chalkboard in the basement of the belmont house, and jo anne and amber and i played school, and i cried because jo anne told me to write what period it was on my paper and i was in kindergarten, so i didn't know what periods were...
and the chicken coop in the side yard, and the big doghouse in back we used to crawl in, and i remember when my friends came over for joy school i'd hang out in there... (i think???) and amber used to always have her pink... um... super ball? or something? and it bounced over the backyard fence one day and never was heard from again...and no one can forget her cocker spaniel doll...

we took the bus to school every day, but when i found out that normal cities took yellow school buses to school i got upset. i cried a lot about stupid stuff, made my kindergarten teacher frustrated. (imagine how mom felt!) then there was the ice cream lines at central elementary where you had to get your hand stamped. we got those triangular juice minute maid frozen popsicle thingys.

completely off the subject and into 2001, everyone needs to buy they might be giants' new album, mink car. it's a lot of swinging happening fun.
the best thing about central park was the swings that were huge iron circles... too bad they took them out. all the fun stuff they say is too dangerous. sure, it's dangerous if you stand on your head or jump off the top. some dumb kid always ruins it for everyone else.

got tickets for U2, tori amos, old 97's, midnight oil... soo excited and soo broke.

yada, yada, yada-yada jing-jang-jing

Wednesday, October 03, 2001

Yeah, that rec-center was a city afternoon thing where Mom took us. We made lanyards, yayyy!

Central Park in San Mateo, with that little silly train that we HAD to go on.

Once you were a baby!

They say I talk like a baby!

I'm Downtown Julie Brown and welcome to Club MTV... now let's give away some free cassette singles from Whitney Houston and CHAAAAKA KAAAAAAAAHN!

TOO FUNNY I'd forgotten about nailing the sprinkler to the fence and putting up lights. I used to make steam by squirting water outside from the sink downstairs at 2003 Notre Dame. Then shine lights into it. Also had forgotten about recording the Atari video game stuff!

Monday, October 01, 2001

your mother was a hampster and your father smelt of elderberries!

yeah, suzanne, i think maybe you did come with us once or twice. i still don't know where the hell we were. was it the community babysitters? and that place was loaded with pipe cleaners (like anyone would ever clean pipes with those cute little colorful fuzzy bendy thingys) and elbow macaroni ready to glue to construction paper. for no reason.

i didn't know barbie had a breakfast cereal.

mike: alvin... alvin... ALVIN!
amber: dream about me... dream about me.. ah ooh ah ooh dream about me me...

Saturday, September 29, 2001

so i said "look, mother, it's my life, okaaaay? so if i WANT to walk on the beach naked I... oh..."

ever wonder what it's like to travel with the circus?

Friday, September 28, 2001

i remember going to some sort of... urgh... rec center or something, because i remember playing with pipe cleaners and having access to chinese checkers, even though i didn't know how to play it. i think i vaguely remember something like ping pong tables around...

and then there was joy school. the end.

one point twenty one jiggggowatts!!!

Monday, September 24, 2001

whenever mom couldn't get us out of bed, she'd just have to say what kind of cereal she had bought the day before, then we'd get up. there was strawberry shortcake, cabbage patch kids, crunchy stars, smurfberry crunch, oj's ("move em out!"), and of course circus fun cereal.

"pilsbury quick bug quick bug quick bug, pilsbury quick bug quick bug quick"

nital: "just because, andrew, just because!" or, opening a gift from her birthday party... "i hate it!"

anyone remember going to the space needle and merle jumping off the elevator to get some fudge? or how we'd eat figurines, chocolate slim fast bars and that crappy chocolate aerosol spray? or all those cobwebbed flower pots in our side yard at the belmont house? mike, do you remember going to some summer program... don't know if it was a church or what... but there were foosball tables, games, and we would play capture the flag? or putting a hose down the slide on the swingset, or better yet, along garbage bags lined with bricks on our lawn!

Sunday, September 16, 2001

roto-rooter rode 'er scooter down the city seeew-er!

did somebody say "DEALS??" (then a guy with a white top hat and some girls pop up behind him singing, "DEALS! DEALS! DEALS!"

with her purple star and her horse starlight, wow! (WOW) I can make things happy and bright!

irwin mcnutty.

the nerf twins dance-- wah wah wah wah WAAAAAH WAAAAAH....

that one pit on the ET atari game where no one knew how to get out of... and michael recording his victory over the Empire Strikes Back game...

has anyone noticed most of our fondest memories come from television and video games??? is that SAD to anyone else but me?

or what about that one time in the basement around halloween you constructed a haunted house where all the fiberglass was, and had amber and joanne pop out of boxes to scare me... oooh, and the time michael nailed a sprinkler to the fence and put up christmas lights...

Friday, September 14, 2001

"We are filled with shame!"

"I LIKE bright colored things!" (Diz, Out of Control)

"A Yumma Yumma!" (Silly commercial for cereal)

"The Revolution will not be televised!"

Oh yeah and touching the television as each colorful letter spelling "Punky Brewster" appeared.

Friday, March 02, 2001

cool suzanne! i want to do some schtuff for your 'zine. are you leaving it open to anything? ANYthing? what format do you prefer? if i email a images to you, would that be ok? or do you need hard copy?

mike, how was your trip to tampa? anything new down there? oh, man you MUST see high fidelity. i just bought it. i also just purchased batman (oh the memories! the best part has to be when the joker's masked girlfriend whines, "jack, you said i could watch you ruin the paintings!"). and i love tim burton. that reminds me- has anyone seen monkeybone? i dislike brandon fraser, but the special effects were awesome. and it was done by sam hamm and tim burton (although i'm confused with exactly what tim's role was). anywho, good movie. if you wanna see a trailor: http://movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hv&id=1804133339&cf=mm2

i'm planning to go on a so. cal. trip at the end of the month with my friend, amy. we're gonna hit a bunch of beaches and end up in l.a. for a guster concert. i'm excited to get a break. i'm also working on a third animated feature; this time i'm using my experiences with my ex-roommate, andrea. and, this time i get all semester to work on it, so it should be even better than the first two (t.m.b.g.'s "ant" music video, and "the no-good, awful, terrible, horrible day from hell").

talk soon

Sunday, February 25, 2001

ok, so michael wants us to BLOG more. blog blog blog.

i guess the biggest thing is that i got a PROMOTION last thursday -- yeeeeehaw! -- into the graphics department. for now i'm mainly retrieving files from backup tapes, still doing my proofing, and will be trapping some files soon.

as for everything else, my life is booooooogerly busy, working from 8:30 am until 4 pm, then evening classes at cos from 6 - 9:30 every day but monday and friday.

i'm going to start a self published zine, just for the funz of it. just because i need to squeeze in some creativity into my busy life. i figure, you know, dad owns a print shop, i work there every day, i like to write, i'm the perfect candidate! so if you have anything to contribute, send it along. humor, essays, photos, reviews, opinions, poems, i don't care. latidadadaaaaa.

the end.
-suzanne.

Thursday, February 22, 2001

OK, I posted last... so technically, it's someone ELSE's turn now!

But hey... I have news. I'm going to Tampa on Saturday morning! Yahoo! Going to Busch Gardens, Universal's Islands of Adventure, and Disney/MGM and EPCOT. Can't wait!

It got real cold here all of a sudden. No real snow though.

Talk soon,
Mike

Monday, February 12, 2001

Have not seen "Silverman," but it looks funny! I heard "High Fidelity" was funny too. Gotta see it. Most of the snow has melted, THANKFULLY! Yep, Mom & Dad are at yet ANOTHER printing conference! It's like, "Oh! There's a printing conference in Cancun! We might as well go!" LOL! Suzanne are you locking kids in the closet!?!?!?!!

And no, Clooney was never good. In ANYTHING. But I might make an exception with "Oh, brother."

I am like SO tired. Time for beddy-bye. --Mike
has anyone seen "saving silverman?" tooo funny! jack black is king! just realized the other day that he was in mars attacks.

how long will mom and dad be gone? are they at another printer's convention? suzanne, have you gone to the grocery store? are you starving the kids? don't lock them in the closet anymore. mom got mad last time. tee hee.

at the bookstore, i had to do a cheesy valentine's day set up and take photos of anyone who wanted them. we do this annually for valentine's day and for mother's day. it's a kodak promotion, so we give out free pictures. this year we decided to post them on our website. check them out- you can see me and chip. go to www.spartanshops.com and then go to bookstore, and click on valentine's gallery. i'm in there with some coworkers too. chip is the one who resembles chris farley but with red hair.

is it still snowing over there, mike? i swear i could never live in the snow. you know, it's like cold and stuff.
haven't seen previews for oh brother where art thou. if it has clooney in it, i'd have my doubts. he was never any good, except in the facts of life.

smell ya later

Saturday, February 10, 2001

blog, blog, blog, that's all michael does all day.

so mom and dad are out of town, out of state, far far far away. i'm left to sort of maintain the house. it's falling apart. as soon as they leave, all of a sudden two lights in my room just burn out! how many suzanne yadas does it take to screw in a lightbulb? my question is, does it hurt anything to leave the switch on while you change it? miss suzanne is too stupid to know such trivia.

Friday, February 09, 2001

Man! Mom & Dad are in Florida, where it's like 80 degrees. Meanwhile, I'm stuck in Connecticut, where the sun doesn't seem to want to shine. {sigh} Oh well, I guess I asked for it.

You know, after living in Ukraine and Utah, I promised myself I'd never live in a place where it snowed again. Dummy.

I want to go see that movie, "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" Normally I think George Clooney is obnoxious and annoying. But this actually looks cool. Watched two episodes of "Survivor." I think it's an interesting show. So far it's not as good as the first "Survivor," but I think it will get better.

Man, I am drooling over a 1gHz computer... around $1000... Never thought I'd say it, but I'm looking at an Athlon chip...

Oh well, enough rambling! See ya soon,
--Michael
